OVC Program
The PIH Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC) program is designed to support children under the age of 18 who have lost one or both parents - particularly those whose parents have died from multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) and/or are at risk due to neglect or abandonment.
Our Impact
Orphaned and Vulnerable Children program (OVC) empowers and responds to the social needs of OVCs by providing psychosocial support including monthly food parcels, tuition fees, clothing, counselling and medical care.

Mahata Taolana (18) is under PIH Orphan and Vulnerable Children program.
PIH Lesotho conducts quarterly supervision in the homes and institutions where the children are housed to ensure that they are adhering to their medication. This is done in conjunction with the Ministry of Social Development’s OVC department.
The program addresses the full spectrum of needs for these children ranging from food, clothing, education and health care, including critical mental health. Through the OVC program, PIH Lesotho ensures that some of the country’s most vulnerable children are not only protected and cared for, but also given the tools and opportunities to thrive and lead meaningful lives.
