To support those with TB on their road to recovery, Partners In Health (PIH) Lesotho relies on treatment supporters. Learn more about treatment supporters, including who they are and what they do.

PIH Lesotho opened a new maternal waiting home to reduce maternal mortality, providing expectant mothers with better care and support. This initiative improves access and outcomes in remote areas. 

The WHO recently approved new, safe TB treatments from the PIH-led endTB trial, offering hope for patients with MDR-TB and RR-TB. These treatments, backed by years of research, promise better outcomes for many. 

Paul Soko, PIH Lesotho’s infrastructure coordinator, transformed Botšabelo Hospital over 14 years, designing and building essential facilities. Now retiring, he aims to improve lives through his family’s farming business.

 

PIH Lesotho plays a critical role in combating TB, providing not only medical care but also social support to patients. Awareness, early diagnosis, and adherence to treatment are crucial. Sarafina’s journey is a reminder of the importance of these elements and the incredible strength it takes to endure such a battle.

In 2022, Qabane was diagnosed with multidrug-resistant tuberculosis (MDR-TB) at Partners In Health (PIH)-supported Nkau Health Center and immediately began treatment, which includes medication and social support, such as food and transportation.
